Benefits of harvesting clean energy

Wind energy is the fuel of today & tomorrow
Wind energy is inexhaustible & infinitely renewable. It is abundant energy that will be available for future generations.Wind energy is clean energy that produces no emissions. Wind displaces electricity & every kilowatt-hour of electricity produced by wind power helps reduce the demand for natural gas used to generate electricity. Lower demand for natural gas helps mitigate rising costs of consumer heating & electricity, industrial processes & agricultural feedstocks. Wind Energy is the fuel of today & tomorow. Today, wind provides competitive electricity. Tomorrow, it is likely to be the cheapest source of electricity. Small wind turbines, alone or as part of a hybrid system, can power homes, businesses & farms. wind energy is perfect for remote applications, such as water pumping. With concern over debilitating illnesses associated with air pollutants, wind has overwhelming public support.
About WINDWATTS wind turbines
WINDWATTS utilizes 96% of South African raw materials
WINDWATTS is currently the first and only true wind turbine manufacturer in Africa & utilizes almost 96% of South African raw materials. WINDWATTS manufactures a whole range of wind turbines, turbine controllers, battery storage systems & power inverters. All our products are locally produced & manufactured. Many experts see wind power as the renewable source of energy with the greatest potential for growth & investment. Government & investor interest has increased significantly as wind has evolved into a more cost-effective mode of producing electricity. The first production prototype flew in April of 2009 & was immediately a success. In January 2010 WINDWATTS opened its doors to the market in Montague Gardens near Milnerton in Cape Town.
WINDWATTS Horizontal axis turbines

Designed with a multi-blade hub system
WINDWATTS horizontal axis turbines were inspired and designed using aeronautical principles. Most horizontal axis turbines built today are two or three bladed. WINDWATTS designed and developed a domestic range of wind turbines with a multi-blade hub system that consists of 5 ground adjustable blades. Increasing the number of blades enables a smaller rotor diameter and maximizes the harnessing of the winds kinetic energy. WINDWATTS wind turbines can be used as stand-alone applications, or they can be connected to a utility power grid or even combined with a photovoltaic (solar cell) system. WINDWATTS wind turbines have been sculptured to be aesthetically pleasing, durable, cost effective, efficient and silent. The horizontal axis turbines are recommended for domestic use in residential homes, prefab school classrooms, mobile medical clinics, low cost housing, billboard installations. WINDWATTS horizontal axis product range is available in 500 watts to 3kw.

WINDWATTS Vertical axis turbines

VAWT operate in any wind conditions
WINDWATTS vertical axis wind turbines operate effectively in any wind conditions & from any direction. They are designed for low winds areas & are well suited for turbulent wind conditions which can be found around buildings. WINDWATTS vertical axis wind turbines are manufactured in a modular manner & can be used for both on grid & off grid applications. You can add additional alternators & wing sets until you have your desired power output, adding extra wing sets enables you to run as much as 15kw on a single tower. The vertical axis turbines are recomended for schools, community halls, libraries, medical clinics, fire stations, commercial projects & agriculture.
On grid connected systems
Connects to the electricity distribution system
Small wind energy systems can be connected to the electricity distribution system. A grid-connected wind turbine can reduce your consumption of utility-supplied electricity for lighting, appliances, and electric heat. If the turbine cannot deliver the amount of energy you need, the utility makes up the difference. When the wind system produces more electricity than the household requires, the excess is sent or sold to the utility.
Off grid connected systems
Stand-alone systems
Wind power can be used in off-grid systems, also called stand-alone systems, which are not connected to an electric distribution system or grid. In these applications, small wind electric systems can be used in combination with other components – including a small solar electric system – to create hybrid power systems. Hybrid power systems can provide reliable off-grid power for homes, farms, or even entire communities.
Low cost housing Sector
Provide free renewable light within communities
WINDWATTS goal is to promote green power & wind energy within private & government sectors. Our vision is to provide each & every low cost house in the country with a wind turbine, including schools, libraries & medical clinics. With increased electricity costs our aim is to harvest renewable energy through solar & wind systems to deliver a more cost effective way of producing electricity. This will give children the benefit to study for longer periods of time in well lit environments & eradicate the use of candles & paraffin lamps. This will create healthier & safer living condition & make a sustainable difference to the lives of the community. Our goal is to train local people from the community to become certified installers thereby providing skill transfer & job creation. WINDWATTS was the first to introduce sustainable solutions for low cost housing by utilizing wind energy. Air pollution from using fuelwood is still a familiar sight in developing countries, where women and children are most affected. This indicates that there is a need to develop efficient & safe technologies to uplift the overall standard of living in the low cost housing sector.
Low cost housing wind turbine official launch
SABC Morning Live
WINDWATTS together with VHP holdings had an official launch and handover with housing MEC Bonginkosa Madikizela to a Mfuleni beneficiary Phindiwe Mbewana on wednesday 21st of April 2010. This was to signify and introduce the very first low cost house that utilizes both wind and solar energy. Another launch was held with SABC morning live in Khayletisha on friday 6th August 2010. A very positive speech was delivered by the housing minister who was quoted on saying that he wanted to roll out similar houses “en masse”.
