Welcome to Sustainable Energy Resource
The Sustainable Energy Seminar
Smart Grids for SA Cities
The move to a more sustainable approach to energy, among other things, requires a decentralisation of production coupled with energy efficiency typified by multiple small producers feeding into a two way grid that optimises peak demand through a matrix of buy/sell rates which incentivise users to adapt their demand to maximise their energy savings/income.
This is not a new idea yet in SA smart grids seem a long way off – why?
We have invited a panel of experts to engage on the topic to explain what can be done and how, and why we are slow to implement?
Join the discussion, learn and be heard. Does your company or organisation have proposals or suggestions? Can you contribute meaningfully to the debate? Join this session at Sustainability Week and be involved in affecting our evolving urban environment.

The Sustainable Energy Resource Handbook
South Africa’s The Sustainable Energy Resource Handbook Volume 1 was launched in June 2010. Volume 1 has served to provide local energy sector stakeholders with an effective reference tool that contains articles written by leading authors and experts in their respective sectors.
Following the success of the first Handbook Alive2green is proud to announce the arrival of The Sustainable Energy Resource Handbook Volume 2. Volume 2 of the Handbook is peer-reviewed: authors’ submissions were reviewed for academic publication by a panel consisting of some of South Africa’s top researchers and sector experts. The peer-review process is in keeping with international academic handbook standards as well as requirements from publication stakeholders such as CSIR, but is also linked with the generation of the eLearning modules that will now be associated with all Volumes of the Handbook.
